Cricket Care
Storage temperatures of 65 to 85 degrees. Huddled crickets are too cold.
Dead, black or wet looking crickets are to hot. Store crickets in an
aquarium, cricket hotel or condo, or other holding box with egg flats for
crawlspace and darkness. Holding boxes should be cleaned with water only,
in-between cricket orders. Always have fresh water. this can be done with
a watering setup. For 1 -2 week old crickets, use a moist sponge. You can
purchase our feed or feed can be unmedicated chicken feed or dry oatmeal.
Keep insecticides, pest strips and cleaning products away from your
crickets. When crickets are dead on their backs, they have been poisoned
by some external force.
Special Winter Care / Handling
- DO NOT OPEN CRICKET BOX. Warm crickets in the
box overnight near a heat source. (heater vent, etc.) This will allow
the crickets to recover from hibernation. After this process, you may
empty the crickets into your normal holding box.
Super worm
Care
- Storage temperature of 70 - 85 degrees. If
worms come to the top they are too warm.
- Cup Maintenance - replace bran or oatmeal
every 2 weeks, use cucumbers for moisture
- Bulk Maintenance - Store in sweater box, with
bran or oatmeal, use cucumbers for moisture.
- Keep insecticides, pest strips and cleaning
products away from your superworms.
Meal worm
Care
- Store at temperatures between 45- 55 degrees.
- Cup Storage - Keep in Bran, a thumb sized
piece of vegetable (sliced) may be added
- Bulk Storage - Store in sweater box with bran,
cornmeal or oatmeal and add firm vegetables (sliced).
- Keep insecticides, pest strips and cleaning
products away from your mealworms.
Silk worm
Care
- Open dish silkworms arrived in and dump worms
into a large plastic container.
- Keep temps around 75 to 85
- Prepare Silkworm Chow and grate a small amount
of chow (approx. 1/4 inch) on top of all the worms using a cheese
grater .(or use fresh mulberry leaves if you prefer).
- Place lid on large plastic container to
prevent chow from drying out prematurely while worms feed.
- After feeding for several hours remove lid to
allow old chow to thoroughly dry out before each new feeding (this
will prevent mold).
- Feed chow in strips or chunks as the worms
grow larger.
- Feed more often for faster growth, or less for
slower growth.
- Feed everyday until worms reach the desired
size.
